yesterday in State Historical Museum (Red Square 1) opened an exhibition "Russian historical portrait. Engraving XVIII Century. " The exhibition is part of the series "Russian historical portrait." The first exhibition was in 2004 "Age parsuna, the second refers to the engraved portrait of the XVIII century as a special phenomenon in Russian culture and art, the subject of relentless attention of collectors and connoisseurs, and most important historical source.
Collection Prints of the Historical Museum, which joined at the beginning of XX century, the famous collection AP Bakhrushin AA Vasilchikov, PYDashkov, P. Shchukin, MN Pohvisneva, traces the development stages of the portrait genre in Russian art, to revive in the memory of persons of sovereigns and their families, representatives of the most illustrious names of scientists, artists, generals, public figures.

special place in the exhibition is the section associated with the era of Catherine II, complete with a beautiful tapestry , products made from the bones, paintings that are associated with certain engraved portrait of the Empress, which served them for the originals. The exhibition allows us to see other examples of the relationship of engraved images on paper, glass, bone products with bas-reliefs and colorful portraits.
