Today in the Central Museum of Ancient Russian Culture and Art Andrei Rublev will open the exhibition of icons from the collection of Victor Bondarenko
Today, April 21, at 16.00 in the Central Museum of Ancient Russian Culture and Art Andrei Rublev will open the exhibition "All remains to people". The event is timed to the 60 th anniversary of the collector Victor Bondarenko. It is the third sponsored by them a large project on the theme of Russian icons. Two previous exhibitions "And according to the fruit tree is recognizable and « Icon Dynasty Romanov » exposed in the State Tretyakov Gallery in 2003 and 2008.
new project covers a chronological period in the history of Russian icons from the line XVI - XVII century to 1929. A total exhibition features 125 works. Among them are a big part of Monuments Modern Times, which long attracted the interest of science, since the phenomenon was not considered art. In recent years, the era of neglect of this material is over, and began his active research and collecting. A very important role in drawing attention to the late icon, introduced his collecting activities, and Viktor Bondarenko.
Russian icons XVII - XX centuries represented at the exhibition as a vivid and illustrative works of high artistic level and monuments that fill gaps in our knowledge about the iconography of the time, complement and enhance interior view of all its diversity. Among the works of the XVII century a special place is occupied by a set of eight icons of the festival a number of the iconostasis of the 1680's, created by the masters of the Armory, which surprised the unexpected severity of his artistic decisions, significantly expanding the long-established ideas about the art of royal painters.
Artworks XVIII - XIX centuries, included in the anniversary exhibition, help re-establish a coherent picture of Russian icons modern times in Russia, when a multitude of new iconography centers. Not all of them were studied, some have not yet been identified and are waiting for their researchers. Collection Victor Bondarenko gives an idea of how well known and the little-studied centers: Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Tver, Uglich, Nerekhta, Palekh. Everything Old Believer icons spectrum of New Age telling the works of Mstera, Vyg Romanova-Borisoglebsk, Pavlova on the Oka, Syzran Guslits. The exhibition will have a number of important adjustments to existing ideas about the specifics of individual artistic centers of late iconography.
As in the previous two projects, the collector, among those represented in the new collection of works by many of signature icons, which are important milestones in the history of icon painting. Victor Bondarenko was among the first collectors to realize the importance of such monuments to science and knowingly giving them special attention. In his collection are icons, as has already been signed by famous artists and those whose works were previously unknown. This is a capital house painter, land Sheremetevs Michael Funtusov, one of the leading masters of the XVIII century Kostroma Ivan Liping, his contemporaries, Ivan Burenin of Uglich and Joe Shepherd of Nerekhta, armless artist of the late XIX - early XX century, Gregory Zhuravlev from Samara, etc. A number of names brought to the iconic tradition of Palekh, Mstiora and Moscow's foreign XIX - XX centuries: NM Zephaniah, I. Parilov, IV Bryagin, A. Fetter, AI Suslov, MI savages AI Tyulin, JE Epanechnikov, VP Gur'yanov, A. J. Vashurov, N. S. Emelianov.
Chronologically, the exhibition ends with an ancient copy of the miraculous icon Our Lady of Vladimir, made in 1929, the restorer of ancient icons AI Bryaginym. Established already in the era of Soviet rule, she intended to participate in the exhibition and sale of Russian icon painting, which took place in Europe and America in 1929-1931. For many years the location of this copy, which is already immediately after its creation, has been appreciated by professionals, was unknown. Symbolically, it was presented to Victor Bondarenko his birthday, and then found new life in science and history of iconography.
new project Viktor Bondarenko called "Everything remains the people." His work in the collection, publication, display and promotion of Russian icon painting is social in nature. Perceiving the icon first and foremost as a national art, he strives to make it as art was appreciated by the modern society in all its diversity and fullness, in whatever era it may be created.
