"Alone in the search for meaning in life"
Today MMSI opens exhibition of underground art of the Soviet period. Presents the work of Tatyana Nazarenko, Dmitry Plavinsky, Yuri Kuper, Oleg Tselkov, Mikhail Shemyakin, and other authors
Today, October 26 at 19:00, at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Petrovka 25, 2 nd floor) opens the exhibition of works of underground art of the Soviet period, "Alone in the search for meaning in life", prepared jointly with the gallery Igor Metelitsyn.
Portfolio Olga Bulgakova , Tatyana Nazarenko , Dmitry Plavinsky , Yuri Cooper , Nicholas Vechtomov , Natalia Nesterova , Eugene Rukhin , Alexander Sitnikov , Rustam Khamdamov , Oleg Tselkov , Mikhail Shemyakin and other masters make up a single exposure, reflecting variety of creative and philosophical pursuit of representatives of unofficial art. Despite the uniqueness of the method, individual themes and attitude of each of the artists, all united by their desire to comprehend and express eternal values that are important for any person in any era. Artistic solutions of general philosophical problems are collected in the project "singles in search of the meaning of life».
Following the artistic canons of modern times, the authors present their ideas on canvas, not directly but indirectly, through certain semantic formulas. Images on canvas are allegories, symbols, through which the artist shows a real world contact with the transcendent world. Using the method defiguratsii and transfiguration - that is, making it easier to recognizable objects to schematic images, changing their real proportions and shapes - the authors show the interpenetration of the visible and the fantastic, and archetypal modern, domestic and abstract.
Today, these masters are scattered in different countries. They are single-wanderers belonging to all cultures at once. They are easy to make not only real, but imaginary journey through countries - and each has its own, beloved. Artists travelers, they wander in search of himself.
The exhibition is open to the public from October 27 to November 29, 2009.
