Today, October 1, 2009, at 17.00 in the halls of Russia Academy of Fine Arts (Prechistenka, 21) opens an exhibition of works member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR, Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR, USSR State Prize winner Peter Ivanovich Kotov (1889-1953). It is timed to the 120-th anniversary of the artist. On display are paintings, created in 1913-1953, respectively, as well as photos, documents.
Peter Kotov - a wonderful portrait artist, historical and battle paintings by well-known canvases devoted to the industrial theme. In his works the artist has continued the best traditions of Russian realistic art. Many of the wizard became paradigmatic.

The most successful and significant - the portraits of Marshal Zhukov, Rokossovsky, Bagramyan, Acad. NN Burdenko, and L. Orbeli, actresses E. Gogoleva, A. Tarasova, and many others. The artist was able to feel and to accurately convey the inner world of his characters, their character. His works are distinguished by a deep psychological, sincerity, coloristic variety. For a portrait of Academician ND Zelinsky master was awarded the State Prize of the USSR.
PI Kotov was born in 1889 in Astrakhan province. Studied at the Kazan Art School at N. Feshin , in 1916 he graduated from High Art School of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, studied at FA Roubaud , NS Samokisha , J. F. Tsionglinskogo . The knowledge gained from his famous teacher, our own rich creative experiences throughout his life he passed on to younger generations. The artist taught at the highest state of art workshops in Astrakhan, then at the Kiev Art Institute, VGIK, Kharkov Art Institute, MGHI them. VISurikova.
works are in collections of the State Russian Museum, State Tretyakov Gallery and other museums of Moscow, Astrakhan, Bryansk, Irkutsk, Nizhniy Novgorod, Samara, Saratov, as well as museums of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine.
