From 10 June to 31 July in the Yaroslavl Art Museum opened exhibition «St. Petersburg avant-garde. XX century », dedicated to the 90 th anniversary of the museum.

Project «Petersburg avant-garde. XX century »- the first full show of St. Petersburg's avant-garde collections from the Yaroslavl Art Museum.

The works of artists of St. Petersburg's avant-garde came to the museum in 1980-90-ies of the students eminent masters of Russian avant-garde Paul Filonov , , Michael Matyushin . These paintings and graphic sheets Tatiana Tatiana Glebova , Paul Kondratyeva , Sterligov , Nicholas Basmanova starting its way into the studio of the great artists in the 1920's and to transfer their experience and traditions of the school the next generation. In the 1960's continued the tradition of St. Petersburg's avant-garde Elisaveta Alexandrov, Vladimir Volkov, Sergei Spitsin, Galina Molchanova and, later, Gennady Zubkov, Hotel Alex, Michael Tserush.

The exhibition presents more than 100 works of painting and graphic art from the museum collection, as well as from private collections in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

In 1980 the Yaroslavl Art Museum, through the younger generation of museum staff has decided to fill the «white spots» of its collections and to restore historical justice with respect to those who were removed from the history of Russian art. The works were selected for the museum directly to the studios of artists. The first students were Paul Filonov - Tatiana Glebova and Pavel Kondratiev. Already in the process of creative communication revealed that the pages of their biographies have links to the Yaroslavl land. This fact contributed to a mutual arrangement. Already in the 1981-1982 year the museum bought the first works of these masters. Now you can talk about it with pride. The works of these artists have appeared in the Yaroslavl Art Museum earlier than in other collections. Not spoiled attention, you can tell, is not known to the public the artists were open to dialogue. Together with his works Tatiana Glebova, the representative of noble family Glebova ( «ancestral nest» was in the Yaroslavl region), to file their memories of the museum Filonov. We make plans for the future, but fate had ordered otherwise. After the death of Tatiana Glebova and Paul Kondratyeva in 1985, work has continued with their heritage.

Of special note was a collection of works by Paul Kondratieva. The museum holds the largest part of the heritage of the author - 84 paintings and more than 300 graphic works. Directly from the author for the purchase in 1982 was brought eight works. Others referred to the 1986 Commission on heritage while LOSHE, which included students painter. The fact of the transfer of works Kondratyeva in Yaroslavl museum was not accidental. Yunost Kondratyeva held in Rybinsk, Yaroslavl province. He began his creative path in Proletkulte, combining lessons from the work of art in Rybinsk museum. His memories of that time, namely the years 1919-1921, provide invaluable information on the pages of the artistic culture of the Yaroslavl region. In 2003, the Museum has shown that part of collections at the exhibition «Traditions of Russian avant-garde. Pavel Kondratiev (1902-1985) and his disciples. Paintings, drawings from the collection of the Yaroslavl Art Museum and private collections ». In this project include individual pieces to reveal the most characteristic aspects of the author's creativity.

Despite the ban, the official criticized arrested Petersburg artists have not changed their opinion of artists, continue to work themselves and pass their experience to new generations of students. Thus, in the 1960's after the higher educational institutions of art, or in parallel with the training of young artists in the years - Elizabeth Alexandrov, Vladimir Volkov, Sergei Spitsin, Galina Molchanova - have begun to master the technique of the system K. Malevich, M. Matyushin , Filonov, explore and develop Cubism, Suprematism, Futurism and other ideas are unacceptable to the Soviet arts areas and schools. The number of students increased, although their range was limited.

Traditions of St. Petersburg's avant-garde now continue Gennady Zubkov, Alexei Hotel, Elena Elena Gritsenko , Michael Tserush. They provided for this show not only their works but also the work of teachers and associates.

Today Yaroslavl Art Museum keeps the whole complex of materials to explore the creative avant-garde artists of St. Petersburg: documents, photographs, memoirs, audio and video recordings, epistolary heritage. Creation of these masters, and an end in itself very significant for Yaroslavl. Here you can find a connection with the Russian avant-garde culture of the province (with the icons with primitives, the nobleman's estate to the culture).
