tomorrow in the Yaroslavl Art Museum opens exhibition of prints and illustrations by Edgar Degas from a Moscow private collections.

All are well-known painter Degas, with his ballet classes, theater performances, portraits, equestrian begami, to a lesser extent, Degas-known sculptor.

But even less is known Degas-Degas-engraver and illustrator, author of a large number of etchings and monotypes. Graphics Degas - this is an area of his work, which allows you to look into the «informal» world artist, to see the song, they created for themselves and for a very small circle of people. We know that monotypes he showed only a few of the visitors, those who are more than trust: Ruaru collectors and Vollaru, writer Louis Galevi, Pissarro, Bartolome, perhaps even Gauguin and Toulouse-Lautrec. Only in the 1877 Degas exhibited three monotypes at the Impressionists, and in the 1893-meters - a series of landscapes, monotypes Gallery Duran-Ruelle. Obviously, this is because of the theme songs. In addition to landscapes, theatrical scenes, portraits, Degas often depicted kafeshantany and brothels of Montmartre with their frivolous life. Large numbers of this kind of works right after the death of the master destroyed, caring about the reputation of the artist, his brother, Rene Degas, deals with the remaining work in the studio. Some pieces have escaped into the private collections and various museums. And now we have the happy opportunity to see what was available to the elected, ie intimate, private part of his work, his inner world.

There are two series of prints. Almost twenty years after the death of Degas and Auguste Ambroise Vollar Blaise used them as illustrations in the edition de luxe «Talks hetero» Lukiana translation of Pierre-Louis (Lucien. Les mimes des courtisanes. Edition Ambroise Vollard. Paris, 1935) and «Family Cardinale» Louis Galevi (Halevy, Ludovic.La famille Cardinal. Edition Auguste Blaizot. Paris, 1938).
