Yesterday in the Moscow Museum of Modern Art was the opening exhibition of two artists of the Moscow School of painting - Grigory Сретенского (1899-1973) and Nina Sergeyevna Stenshinskoy (1901-1988), who studied under the leading masters of «The Jack of Diamonds» - Peter Konchalovsky and Ilya Mashkov .
It happened so that the legacy Сретенского and Stenshinskoy was less known and popular than the work of their famous mentors. The first large exhibition of Gregory Сретенского was only in 1962, and Nina Stenshinskoy - in 1982. This show of paintings Сретенского in London attracted worldwide attention, and many items were purchased for major collections in Europe and the United States. That is why today it is essential to organize a full-fledged museum exhibition in Moscow - a city which was connected the whole life of artists. It is no coincidence that area for such a project, it became the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, which constitute the core of the collection of monuments of Russian avant-garde, including the work of the participants «Jack of Diamonds».
His creative activity Sretensky Gregory and Nina Stenshinskaya began in 1920. Sretensky was one of the founders of «Genesis», created in 1922 by alumni and students VHUTEMASa and Nina Stenshinskaya entered it in 1925. Over the years, the Society has organized eight exhibitions, one of them had been submitted and works by the older generation - Pyotr Konchalovsky, Alexander Kuprin , Alexander Osmerkina . After the disintegration of society the destiny of its members have in many ways, but Sretensky and Stenshinskaya forever remain faithful to continue the tradition of painting in Moscow.

And while craftsmen were also to create pictures, but its main task, they are still believed to work with nature, doing a lot of preparatory studies. Art Сретенского and Stenshinskoy - chamber, but striking, based primarily on the emotional expressiveness of color. There is no complex symbolism and allegory, there is no «sly» Names, a realm of pure visual, where even in the most usual motive can transmit universal value of peace.
All products Сретенского and Stenshinskoy created in 1920, 1930, died during the Great Patriotic War. The fact that they are, can be measured by several black-and-white reproductions, as well as reviews in the press and archival protocols, recorded the discussion of the exhibition period. Post-paintings preserved by the efforts of their relatives, and private collectors. These paintings - evidence that all of his life and Sretensky Stenshinskaya remained committed to the artistic idea, which emerged in the early XX century in the framework of «Knave of Diamonds».
