Ariadne A. Arendt (1906-1997) . A prominent sculptor. She was born in Simferopol in the family physicians. Her great-grandfather Andrew F., brother of Leib-physician Nicholas Fedorovich Arendt, settled in the Crimea, two hundred years ago. Studied at Simferopol gymnasium, in 1923-1926 - in Simferopol College of Fine Arts. In 1928 was admitted to the Higher State Artistic and Technical Institute (VHUTEIN) in Moscow, after its dissolution (1930) and in connection with the relocation of offices, painting and sculpture in Leningrad, the Academy of Arts, and continued his studies there, in the newly created proletarian Institute of Fine Arts ( INPII). She finished it in 1932. She created more than 70 portraits, dozens of songs, genre, decorative and graphic works. Her works are in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum and many other museums in Russia and abroad.
Sergei Mikhailovich Eisenstein (1898-1948). director, painter, film theorist, Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR (1935), Doctor of Arts (1939). From 1920 worked in Moscow, the head of the Theater Set Proletkulta, taught in the workshop directors. In 1921-1922 he studied in public higher directors of workshops under the direction of VE Meyerhold. The first independent work - play «sage» in a comedy by Ostrowski «At any wise man is rather simple» (1923) - agitobozrenie with elements of circus and music hall. In 1924 came to work in cinema. Put movies: «strike» (1925), «Battleship Potemkin" »(1925),« October »(1927, jointly with GV Alexandrov),« Alexander Nevsky »(1938). Stage in the development of historical films became kinotragediya «Ivan the Terrible» (First Series - 1945, Second Series - Issue 1958). In 1940 put opera «Valkyrie» Robert Wagner at the Bolshoi Theater. Since 1932 taught in VGIK (since 1937 - professor). Otton (Oleg) Vasiljević Engels (1880 - 194 ?). Born in Moscow. A disciple of Fyodor Ivanovich Rerberga . Member of the Association of Artists of Moscow, participated in exhibitions since 1913 to 1924. Member of the Union of Russian engravers. From 1925 to 1928 showed his paintings at exhibitions «Art Movement»; in 1929 created his ex-libris were shown at an exhibition of works of Soviet artists in Los Angeles (United States). At the same time, actively cooperated with «Koreologicheskoy Laboratory», which was established as an «experiment» the Russian Academy of Artistic Sciences. Paid attention to nudity in the tradition of the free dance. Expressive technique, the accuracy in showing the movements of human emotions of the dancers and their characteristics distinguish all of his drawings. Following the closure of the Russian Academy of Artistic Sciences in 1930, Otton Engels was arrested (there is a presumption that the arrest was linked to the case of participants in the so-called anti-Soviet conspiracy, the drafters of the Russian-German dictionary) and died in Stalin's camps.
Boris G. KNOBLOK (1903-1984). A well-known theater artist, an outstanding graphic artist, laureate of Stalin Prize, Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR. Born in Moscow in the family of a bank employee. Genus Knoblokov known in Saxony in 1470, the Russia of his ancestors settled in the eighteenth century. Mother B. Knobloka - Hope Genrichovna, nee SIMIS, the daughter of a wealthy tailor. In 1913, Boris entered the school as a result of the events of the First World War and the revolutions of 1917, graduated in 1919. In 1920-1926 he studied at a private school - the studio VN Yakovlev and P. Shuhmina. In 1927-1933 served in the Red Army in the First Cavalry Brigade separate. In 1934-1937 he was chief designer of realistic theater, which was led by director NP Okhlopkov. In 1938 designed a performance «Kochubey» A. Perventseva and N. Okhlopkova at the Moscow Chamber Theater. In 1941-1944, Boris Knoblok - chief designer Small Theater. He worked as a painter of cinema ( «Shining Path» GV Aleksandrova, 1940) In 1948-1963 - chief designer of Central Children's Theater. Having a number of variety shows and performances, was the chief designer in the preparation and conduct of VI World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow in 1957.
Andrei Borisovich KNOBLOK (b. 1938) was born in Moscow. In 1963 graduated from the Faculty of Painting, Moscow State Art Institute. VI Surikov. He worked as artistic director in theaters in Moscow, Petrozavodsk, Kazan and other cities. Member of USDA in 1966. In 1989 awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia. His works are in collections in many museums in Russia and abroad.
