Bonhams puts on auction important work Makovsky, Orlovsky, and Sverchkova Jogin

Top lots future Russian auction Bonhams show in Moscow November 1 and 2 in the building fund "Russian cultural heritage." The auction will take place in London on 28 November

monumental painting by Vladimir Makovsky "Fair (Little Russia)," 1885 is the most expensive of the lots (estimate 1,5-2 million pounds). Scenes from the Little Russian life have appeared in the works of Makovsky in the early 1880s, while the artist often traveled to the Ukraine to see the famous trade fairs. Farmers in festive clothes, endless rows of carts and wagons loaded with all sorts of goods, crowds of beggars and wanderers - all inspired by the artist and was reflected in numerous field sketches that had independent artistic value. This, probably, explains the almost complete absence of all currently known "big" fair V. Makovsky lifetime exhibition history. The only time all of their songs on the themes of Little Russian fairs, including the work presented at the auction, Vladimir Makovsky was able to show the solo exhibition in St. Petersburg in 1902. "Fair (Little Russia)" is designated as number 308 in the exhibition catalog. Donatovich Vladimir Orlovsky (1842-1914) is one of the most prominent Russian landscape painters of the last third of the academic areas XIX - early XX century, felt the impact of Shevchenko and Bogolyubov . Presented at the auction the work was created in the period of artistic maturity and most popular artist. Summer 1883 Orlovsky spent in Podolia and brought back a large number of landscape studies, which were further processed into a picture. In the "Album of Russian painting. Paintings VD Orlov "(St. Petersburg, 1888), published for the 25th anniversary of the painter's art, reproduced several paintings in this series. Among them are "dry bed" (1884), "In meadow thickets" (1886) and "Gnilitsa River" (1885) - in which you can see the picture presented in the auction (№ 20).
