Picasso set a new record!
At yesterday's auction Christie's «The Art of Impressionism and Modernism" in New York Picasso "Nude on a background of green leaves and bust" was sold for a record 106.48 million dollars

Top-lot auction was canvas by Pablo Picasso's "Nude on a background of green leaves and bust", which was sold for 106.48 million dollars and was thus not only the most expensive work of the masters, but also the most expensive piece of art in the world.
This large-scale portrait of the artist's mistress Marie-Therese Walter (1932) is widely recognized as one of the most significant works by Picasso. The portrait, executed in rich blue, pink and green, is a complex piece with a deep sensual overtones, which serves as a vivid evidence of the romantic feelings of the artist against his young muse.
