October 12, 2012 at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice, will be on display outstanding collection of postwar art, donated by Hannelore and Rudolf Schulhoff (Hannelore B. and Rudolph B. Schulhof). Spouses collectors bequeathed to the museum 83 works of Italian, American and European art created since 1945 - paintings, drawings and sculptures. This is the work of African (Afro), Alberto Burri (Alberto Burri), Alexander Calder (Alexander Calder), Giuseppe Kapogrossi (Giuseppe Capogrossi), Eduardo Chillida (Eduardo Chillida), Tony Cragg (Tony Cragg), Ellsworth Kelly (Ellsworth Kelly), Willem De Kooning (Willem de Kooning), Lucio Fontana (Lucio Fontana), Jean Dubuffet (Jean Dubuffet), Jasper Johns (Jasper Johns), Donald Judd (Donald Judd), Anish Kapoor (Anish Kapoor), Mark Rothko (Mark Rothko), Frank Stella (Frank Stella), Cy Twombly (Cy Twombly), Andy Warhol (Andy Warhol) and others.
Hannelore grew up in pre-war Germany, she left shortly before the Second World War. In Brussels, she was married to a Czech Rudolf Schulhoff, and together they emigrated to the United States. Schulhoff earned a reputation for sophisticated collectors with practiced eye, and active philanthropists. Hannelore and Rudolf Schulhoff galeristka met Peggy Guggenheim's niece, in 1954 at the Venice Biennale. The couple was found in Peggy's soul mate, and all three were ardent admirers of contemporary art and the collecting his ardor turned to the works of his contemporaries. Rudolph Schulhoff later (1993 to 1999) was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, and Hannelore Schulhoff from 1980 until his death in February 2012 was part of the advisory board of the Museum of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
