First Lady Bobrinskaya, art critic and jury member, said: "The competition this year involved many leading contemporary artists. If we try to identify a common trend this year, from my point of view, it could look like this: an attempt to self-identification, identification of their individual places in the national artistic tradition in a global context. In other words, an attempt to create a language of contemporary art, relying not on a strategy of denial, a strategy of understanding and self-reflection ».
from the exhibition of works by the jury will select the top 3 in each category. Kandinsky Prize is not awarded for "longevity" or creative contribution. This is a prize for the best artistic achievements made over the past two years (this year have been taken to work only 2006-2007). The main criterion for selecting the winners - the extent to which a particular artist his latest works influenced the development of modern art of Russia.
