Up to 9 September 2007 in the Pushkin Museum (St. Volkhonka, 12) last exhibition «New World. Three centuries of American Art ». Nearly a hundred paintings from several dozen museums and private collections are designed to best reflect the diversity of directions of American Art. The project was implemented by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, in partnership with the Terra Foundation for American Art. As it has so successfully that the show managed to coincide to the 200 th anniversary of establishing diplomatic United States from Russia. And I need hardly look for a diplomatic signal that «Three centuries of American Art» came to us from Beijing, and not from New York, like ZASKOCZ on the road.

It's really powerful emotional explosion, which led to talk about American art - it is a merit of artists mostly second half of the XX century. The Americans brought the work, which can cost tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. It is not hard to believe (for different reasons), but now in the Pushkin Museum hang works abstraktsionistov Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock, the leaders of the pop art of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, as well as Donald Judd, Joseph Kossuth, Jeff Koons, Jean-Michel Basque, the young mischief-maker Matthew Barney, and still young - Kyande Wylie and Dan Schutz. Gallery names continue Willem de Kuninga, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rozenkvist. Let me remind you that the work of Jackson Pollock informally considered to be the most expensive painting in the world. But informality is due to the fact that the transaction was closed: in the past year, the Mexican financier David Martinez bought giant (122 x 243) abstraction of Jackson Pollock «№ 5. 1948 »over 140 million dollars. «Five» made in the original technique drippinga (spray), which, according to legend, an American trained in Paris Max Ernst.

Viewers will not be difficult to find a unifying idea of an American post-war art - in its absolute freedom, challenge, provocation, «live fast», write emotions. Today there is only envy lived in that place and time.

It is no coincidence that the American post-modernists are today, perhaps the main favorites of collectors and investors, avoiding in this role of the French Impressionists.
