Life and work

Anatoly Ivanovich Shugrin was born on 28 Jan 1906 in Moscow, Meschanskaya Sloboda, in a poor family of the clerk of Ivan Antonovich Shugrina. In 1936, together with Sergey Agecom and Leonid Nikitin, he worked on the scenery of the play "the Miser" Ж.-Б. Apart from the teaching activities, the artist, of course, continued working on his own art, created paintings and graphic figurative compositions, abstract collages and sculpture in the spirit of European modernists of the first half of the twentieth century.

So, in 1982, at the initiative of collector Vladimir Orphans, Washington was the only lifetime retrospective Anatoly Shugrina.
