Brother of the artist Н. К. Жаба. He studied at the Higher art school of painting, sculpture and architecture under the Imperial Academy of arts (1899-1907) П. О. Ковалевского, Ф. А. Рубо. In 1907 за picture "On fire" received the title of artist.

he Lived in St. Petersburg (Petrograd — Leningrad). Worked as a genre painter, landscape painter, historical painter. In 1909 участвовал in a hydrographic expedition on the Kola Peninsula and Kolguev island, where he served as artistic series "the far North" (1909). The author works: "In the mountains of Murman" (1910), "Attack of the Sumy hussar regiment of Ostrovno 13 июля 1812 года", "After work" (both — 1912), "Sunny day in Finland" (1915). He drew illustrations to the edition of the fables И. А. Крылова (St. Petersburg, 1914).

From 1903 — participant of exhibitions (exhibition of the higher art school at the Imperial Academy of arts). He exposed his works at exhibitions of the Society of Russian watercolors (1918), the Society of artists-индивидуалистов (1926, 1928), Society of artists to them.
