the Son of an architect and watercolourist А. П. Брюллова, nephew of the artist К. П. Брюллова. Initial skills in drawing acquired under the guidance of his father. Studied physics-математическом branch St-Петербургского University (1857-1861). In 1863, confirmed in the rank of candidate of mathematical Sciences.

In 1865-1866 in Paris, attended Drawing classes at the School of fine arts, worked under the guidance of Л.-Ж.-Ф. Бонна and К. Дюрана.

Lived in St. Petersburg, Pavlovsk; worked in the vicinity of Belev, Tula province, where he had a HOMESTEAD. He painted landscapes, portraits, genre paintings of content; studied etching, lithography. In 1870, for the painting "After work" incentive awarded a large silver medal. In 1871 the Imperial Academy of arts sent on a trip to Russia. Repeatedly visited the countries of Western Europe: in 1872 sent to the International exhibition in London in 1873 — at the world exhibition in Vienna as a member of the international jury, for which he received the order of Franz-Иосифа. In 1882 he made a trip to Algeria, 1885 — in Rome, 1895 — to Constantinople, 1900 — in Paris.
