Painter, graphic artist

From a merchant family. He studied at the Drawing school of the Society for the encouragement of arts (1876-1878), where he graduated with a silver medal, then — in the Imperial Academy of arts (1878-1881) as volnoslushayuschego. At the same time he took lessons from И. Н. Крамского and И. И. Шишкина. In 1879 he was awarded a large silver medal for "painting". In 1881 he left the Academy without completing the course, with the title of teacher of drawing in secondary schools. In 1917 "for the work of art" was awarded the title of artist.

he Lived in Kiev (1886). Repeatedly traveled to Crimea and Caucasus. Travelled to Austria, Germany, Italy. Participated in the painting of Vladimir Cathedral in Kiev in the capacity of executor, under the leadership of В. М. Васнецова.

Worked as a landscape painter, portraitist. Author paintings: "Morning on a swamp" (1880; 2-я award of the Society for the encouragement of arts), "Landscape with swamp", "outskirts" (both — 1889) and others. Engaged in book illustration; participated in the design of the jubilee edition of the works М. Ю. Лермонтова undertaken by the Partnership И. Н. Кушнерева (1891).

1880 — participant of exhibitions (Society for the encouragement of artists in St. Petersburg). Exhibited at exhibitions TPHV (1882-1911, with interruptions), the Moscow society of art lovers (1894-1910, with interruptions), the Imperial Academy of arts (1896, 1898), international exhibitions in Berlin (1902), London (1911), Venice (1914).

he Taught at the Kyiv gymnasium fundukleevsky (1892), Evening school of drawing them. Murashko — Kiev art school (1896-1920); was one of the founders of the art school. Among the students — А. Н. Волков, А. А. Экстер, А. К. Богомазов, Г. И. Беседин, Ф. З. Коновалюк and others.

Work is represented in many Museum collections, including the State Tretyakov gallery.
