Born in Moscow in the family E. Makovsky - amateur artist, collector of art and public figure, one of the founders of the Moscow art class, in 1843 transformed into MUZhViZ; elder sister artists Constantine, Vladimir, Nikolai Makovsky.

later took painting and worked mainly as a landscape painter. Since 1866 has participated in exhibitions. Exhibited his work at exhibitions IAH (1866-1868), Society for the Encouragement of Arts (1867), TPHV (1878-1893, with interruptions), the Moscow Society of Lovers of Fine Arts (1881-1896, with interruptions), the Society of Russian watercolors (1888-1889) , "World of Art" (1902). Artworks Makovskaya popular with lovers of Russian art, her works are in collections of Pavel Tretyakov, SA Bakhrushina and others.

In 1997, the artist's paintings were displayed at the exhibition "Family Makovsky" in the State Tretyakov Gallery.

Creativity Makovskaya little known "broad" audience and almost never studied. Original amount of its artistic heritage is not known. However, the fact that more than thirty years of active participation of the artist in the exhibition activities indicates the existence of a large number of her works. Pictures Makovskaya distinguishes sufficiently high level of performance. They represent a typical example of the art of landscape in Russia in the second half of the XIX century.

Works of the artist are in many museum and private collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery.
