he Studied at the Moscow school of painting (late 1860-х — beginning 1870-х); for student work (picture and sketch) was twice awarded small silver medals for the painting "country school" — a large silver medal. He continued his education at the Imperial Academy of arts (1872-1878). In 1873 awarded two large silver medals for his drawing and sketch, in 1875 — small gold medal for his painting, "Joseph in prison explains the dreams of the Baker and the Butler". In 1878 during the execution of the program "Marriage in Cana of Galilee," received the title of class artist 1-й degree.

Lived in St. Petersburg (Petrograd). He painted portraits, landscapes, battle and genre scenes. Author paintings: "Potter", "donkey", "Plowman", "the capture of the redoubt under the Nikopol", "Entry И. В. Гурко in Kazanlak in 1887 году", "the Portrait of Nicholas II with the order of St .. Vladimir", "Christmas auction" and others. Studied etching; worked a lot in watercolors.
