Lev Borodulin was born in Moscow in 1923. In 1940-м he joined the art Department of the Moscow polygraphic Institute. In 1941-м went to the front; during the war was wounded twice, went to Berlin, awarded the medals "For defense of Moscow" and "For the capture of Berlin". After the war he returned to printing Institute. Photography became interested in after graduation.

In 1950-1972 worked as a staff reporter in the journal "Ogonek", where his mentor was photographer Dmitri Baltermants. In the camera lens Borodulina got the most important sports events held in the USSR and abroad.

Creative manner Baradulin was formed under the influence of avant-garde photographers Alexander Rodchenko, Boris Ignatovich and Arkady Shaikhet.
