ADAMOVICH Mikhail Mikhailovich

Painter, graphic artist, master of decorative and applied arts

In 1894–1907, Mikhail Adamovich studied at the Central Stroganov School of technical Drawing — the Central Stroganov School of Industrial Art. He finished the School with gold medal. In 1907 he was sent on a mission to Italy for two years. In 1908–1913 Adamovich painted decorative panels for the house of Race Society and the private estate of Rupert in Moscow, and for the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in St. Petersburg.

In 1914–1917 Adamovich served in the military service. In 1918 he participated in the design of Pokrov square in Petrograd for the first anniversary of the October Revolution. In 1919–1921 he served in the Red Army.

In 1918–1919 and in 1921–1924 Adamovich worked as an artist at the State porcelain factory in Petrograd (Leningrad). He created a series of plates Views of old Petersburg, services Flowers, agitation plates Red star, Red man, He who does not work, neither shall he eat and others. In 1925 Adamovich was awarded gold medal for the painting on porcelain at the International exhibition of fine and decorative arts in Paris.

In 1926 the dinner service Industrialization was made after the drawing by Adamovich at Leningrad porcelain factory named after M. V. Lomonosov. In 1924–1927 Adamovich worked as an artist at Volkhov porcelain and faience factory, in 1927–1934 – at Dulevo porcelain factory. Adamovich was one of the creators of the agitation porcelain.

Mikhail Adamovich was a member and an active participant of the exhibitions of the society Moscow Salon, the art circle Sreda (“Environment”), the group Mir Iskusstva (“World of Art”), the group Obshchina Khudozhnikov (“Artist Community”), the Association of the artists of Revolutionary Russia (AKhRR). He also was a member of the Russian Society of Industrial Art.

In 1930s–1940s Adamovich created a series of monumental paintings in Moscow.

Works by Mikhail Adamovich are in many museum collections, including the State Hermitage Museum (Museum of porcelain), the State Tretyakov Gallery, the All-Russia Museum of Decorative-Applied and Folk Art, the State Museum of Ceramics, Kuskovo Estate and others.
