ALEXANDROVA Tatyana Borisovna

January 12 (25), 1907 (Moscow) — November 15, 1987 (Moscow)

Painter, graphic artist, scene-designer

Alexandrova studied at the workshop Proletkult (1921–1923) under L. F. Zhegin and V. E. Pestel, at the Higher State Artistic and Technical Workshops (VKhUTEMAS) in Moscow (1924–1925).

Alexandrova lived in Moscow and painted landscapes, portraits, still lifes, genre paintings. In 1920s–1930s she worked with publishing houses, illustrated children books. She designed performances in the Central Puppet Theatre in Moscow (1933 — Piglet in bath by E. Speransky; 1935 — Kashtanka by A. P. Chehov). Since 1957 Alexandrova worked in commercial art; she made commercial labels and brands.

Alexandrova began to exhibit her works since 1926. She was a member of the societies Makovets (1925–1926), Put’ zhivopisi (“The Way of Painting”, 1927–1930). She exposed her works in exhibition in Paris organized by M. Larionov (1928). She participated in revolutionary exhibitions (1930), exhibition Children in Soviet art (1931), The artists of Soviet theatre for 17 years (1934) in Moscow, The artists of the RSFSR for 15 years (1932) in Leningrad and others. In 1979 her personal exhibition took place in Moscow.

Works by Tatyana Alexandrova are in many museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and others.
