born in the family of teachers. Art education has received in the Kazan Art School (1910-1915) by N. Feshin, then studied at MUZHVZ (1915-1917) by A. Arkhipov, and I. ; Mashkova.

He painted genre scenes, portraits, landscapes, still lifes. From 1914 - participant of exhibitions. In 1919 his wife moved to Kozmodemyansk, where he headed the parish Board of Education, with participation Grigorieva were open decorative arts studio, an art school and museum with the art department, organized the first art exhibition (1920).

In 1922 he returned to Moscow. Worked in the Department for Museums and Monuments of art and antiquities Narcompros. In 1922, together with PA Radimovym, EA Katsman, N. Kotov, VV Zhuravlev, PY Kiselis, AN Skachko, GN Sukhanov, P. Shuhminym, BN Yakovlev initiated the establishment AHRR was elected to the board members of the Association as the assistant chairman in 1923-1927 - Chairman AHRR.

Because of the employment of administrative work actively participate in exhibitions are not accepted. Also participated in an art exhibition of contemporary paintings by local artists in Moscow and Ryazan (1925), Art and Industry exhibition in Cologne (1929), the exhibition of art loaned to the areas of industrial and collective farms in Moscow (1932), the commemorative exhibition "Artists of the RSFSR XV years in Moscow and Leningrad (1932-1934). In the early 1930's held a solo exhibition at the club factory "rubber" in Moscow.

Since 1932 - Member of the USSR Union of Artists. In 1933-1936 headed the Vsekohudozhnik. In 1938, arrested on charges of anti-Soviet activity, was sentenced to 9 years of the camps. He served a term in one of the farms of the NKVD in Kazakhstan. In 1946 he was released. Without the right of residence in Moscow, lived in Tarusa. In 1954, rehabilitated. In 1956 the artist was granted a life pension of national importance, in the same year he was elected a delegate to the 1 st Congress of Soviet artists, in 1959 awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Mari ASSR.

buried at Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow. Name Grigorieva given Kozmodemyansk art-historical museum (1966).
