author of several articles on the history of Russian art. Diary interviews with BM Kustodiev (1921-1927), published the first monograph on Kustodiev (Leningrad, GIZ, 1925).

participated in the Great Patriotic War, he served in the militia, while was at headquarters, then - in evacuation in Alma-Ata, where he worked as a painter theater.

died of a heart attack. Buried in the Volkov Cemetery in Petersburg.
