He studied at the Stroganov School of Industrial Art (1907-1916) in NA Andreeva, TP Pashkova, S.-W. Noakovskogo; graduated with a diploma of the artist 1-th degree and a gold medal.

lived in Moscow. He worked in the monumental, monumental and decorative sculpture and easel in different materials (plaster, wood, bronze, marble). Served portraits of historical figures (Gogol, NADobrolyubov, Marx, Engels) and contemporaries (factory workers, builders, athletes), nudes . In 1918, the plan of monumental propaganda created a monument to Ivan Bolotnikov for Moscow (gypsum was not open). He was engaged in painting, turned to a variety of graphic techniques (ink, pencil, sanguine, sepia).

Since 1915 - participant of the exhibition ( "free creativity"). Exhibited his work at the first Russian art exhibition in the Van Diemen Gallery in Berlin (1922), a permanent art exhibition in Moscow (1922). Board Member, Chairman of the section sculptors and exponential AHRR (1926-1929).

in 1928 on Narcompros trip with his wife, artist AG Koltsova-Bychkova, went to Paris. Exhibited his work in the Salon d'Automne, salons Independent and Bareiro. Held a personal exhibition in gallery "Senate" (1930). On his return (1930) conducted a solo exhibition in Moscow (1931, introduction to the catalog Lunacharskii), which presented a made in Paris, sculptures and drawings (genre sketches, landscapes, portraits).

In 1930-40-s worked on a number of figures for the building of the Library. Lenin (architect VG Gelfreich, VA Shuko), design of the monument in honor of the twentieth anniversary of the Red Army. During World War II is rebuilding and flying pieces of Terpsichore on the facade of the genius of the Bolshoi Theater, suffered from the bombing (1941-1943). He performed the spectacular series "The farmers in the construction" (1932), "Sotskultbyt" (1932-1933, pastel), "Azerbaijan" (1936, pencil, sanguine), "Athletes" (1930) and others.

Since 1932 - Member of the USSR Union of Artists, member of the board section sculptors MOSSH, in 1941-1948 - Head of Section sculptors. Participated in the anniversary exhibition "Artists of the RSFSR XV years» (1932-1934), «XV years, the Red Army" (1933-1934) in Leningrad and Moscow, and numerous all-Union exhibitions.

taught at the Moscow Higher School of Industrial Art (1945-1951), Associate Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and decorative sculpture.
