born in the family of architect-contractor, the younger brother of the artist Amsheev Nuremberg. In the late 1900's - early 1910-s studied at the Odessa Art School at KK Kostandi. Participated in the First World War, was awarded the Order of St. George. During the Civil War belonged first to the anarchists, then moved to the Red Army, was a commander.

In 1920 he moved from Odessa to Moscow, where he continued his studies in painting at VHUTEMAS PP Konchalovsky. In 1922 he joined the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (AHRR), took her pseudonym Devin. In 1920 he went to the creative trip to the Caucasus, Central Asia, visited many construction sites of socialism, where he completed a series of industrial landscapes.
