he Studied at the workshop Б. В. Эдуардса in Odessa (early 1900-х), the Odessa art College (early 1900-х) Л. Д. Иорини. Worked in the workshops of marble products А. П. Тузина and Gambaga in Odessa (1902-1906). Participated in the revolutionary movement.

In 1906 emigrated. He studied at the workshop Э. Пеллини and the Academy of fine arts in Milan (1906-1909), attended classes at the Ecole des Beaux arts in Paris under the pseudonym Alexander Sukhov (1909); studied under the guidance А. Мерсье. The advice Э. А. Бурделя. In 1912 with a group of Russian artists organized in Paris the Russian Academy of painting and sculpture, where he headed the sculpture Department. Among the students — М. В. Воробьева-Стебельская (Marevna), И. К. Лебедев (Jean Lebedev), А. Федер, А. Старкопф-Реа.

he Exhibited at the exhibitions of the salon des indépendants, the salon d'automne (1910-е).

After the February revolution of 1917 he returned to Russia. Lived in Odessa and Kiev (1917-1920), Kislovodsk (1920), Baku (1921), Sukhumi (1922), 1922 — in Moscow and Leningrad. He worked as a laborer at an aircraft factory in Odessa, a plasterer in Kiev, collaborated in the Windows of the GROWTH in Kislovodsk, Baku and Sukhumi. In 1919 — head sculpture-декоративного section FROM the Ukrainian people's Commissariat for education. From 1931 he worked in the State restoration workshops in Moscow.

Worked in monumental, monumental-декоративной and easel sculpture. The author works: "Unemployed" (1908), "Nude" (1910-1911), "Portrait of mother" (1911-1912), "the Kiss" (1914), "Idyll" (1925), "the Song" (1926), "Carrying stone" (1927), "Hammers" (1928), "the Pioneers" (1930), "hi Society" (1933), "Girl with dove" (1935), "Girl, shearers sheep" (1937), "A woman with a sheaf" (1930-е) and others.

Participated in exhibitions: drawings by contemporary Russian sculptors (1925), art works for 10-летнему the anniversary of the October revolution (1928), "XV years of the red army" (1933), "Artists of the RSFSR for XV years" (1933), reporting the exhibition of works by artists, seconded by the Sovnarkom of the RSFSR, the people's Commissariat for education, "Vsekohudozhnik" and mosskh in the USSR in 1933 году (1934), Moscow sculptors (1937) in Moscow. Works exhibited at Art-кустарной the exhibition of the USSR in new-Йорке, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit (1929).

he Taught at the VKhUTEMAS in Moscow (1922); Vhuteine — Institute of proletarian fine art (1924-1930); Professor. Among the students — А. А. Арендт, М. Б. Айзенштадт, А. Е. Зеленский, Л. А. Кардашов, П. И. Добрынин.

he was married to the sculptor Olga Lesavoy-Булаковской (1889-1947).

he was Buried at Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow.

Personal (posthumous) exhibition was held in Moscow (1980).

Work is represented in many Museum collections, among them — of the State Tretyakov gallery.
