Created projects: master plan and a number of pavilions for the all-Russian agricultural and handicraft-промышленной exhibition in Moscow (1922-1923, the master plan — 3-я prize), houses for workers in Ivanovo-Вознесенске (1926, together with М. П. Парусниковым, 3-я award), working for clubs of the Union of food industry workers (1926-1927, implemented in Moscow, Tver, Minsk), House of culture of workers of the fishing trade in Khabarovsk (1926-1929), Central power plant "EUROSTROI" in Kiev (1927, together with М. П. Парусниковым), the boiler Kievgrad (1928-1929, together with Г. П. Гольцем, М. П. Парусниковым; implemented), dormitories for students of the Mining Institute at Kaluga street (1930, together with Г. С. Кирилловым).

In 1930-1931 — Moscow representative of the Chelyabinsk tractor plant; worked to develop a plan of sotsgorodok in the firm, performed the project of the plant (together with Г. С. Кирилловым). In 1930-1931 was sent to the USA to study experience of design and construction of plants of the automotive industry; visited the Ford plant in Detroit.

In 1933-1935 worked in architectural-проектной workshop No. 11 Mosproyekt (head М. В. Крюков). Completed projects: secondary school in Trekhprudny lane (1933, together with Ю. Н. Емельяновым), the summer theatre in the Park of culture and rest in Moscow (1933, not built), a six-story garage Avtoremzavod 650 мест Presnensky Val apartment (1934, together with Ю. С. Фельзером, М. П. Крымским), houses of Narkomles on Gorky street, 25 (1933-1936, design and construction of the first stage; artist — В. А. Фаворский).

In 1934, was enrolled in graduate school at the faculty of architectural improvements of the Academy of architecture of the USSR, where he worked in the Studio И. В. Жолтовского. Developed the project of the Theatre. В. Э. Мейерхольда in Moscow (1934, together with А. В. Власовым). In 1935-1936 as part of a group of graduate students Academy of architecture of the USSR was sent abroad; visited Italy, Greece, France.

In the second half of 1930-х in collaboration with Б. Н. Блохиным designed three series of large-block residential buildings: Velozavodskaya, Gross streets, Gorky street and Bolshaya Polyanka, Berezhkovskaya and Derbenevskaya quay. Created the project of residential prefabricated houses on Leningrad prospect (1936-1940, artist — В. А. Фаворский). Was engaged in the reconstruction of the interiors of the State Historical Museum (1936-1937), created the project of the facade of the Central house of architect in Moscow (1938-1940, made), competitive projects of the building of the panorama "Sturm Perekopa" (1940, 3-я award; 1941, not implemented).

during the great Patriotic war worked on projects in post-war reconstruction of cities: Stalingrad (1943-1944, together with С. Х. Сатунцем), the center of Yalta (1944-1945, together with С. Х. Сатунцем). Created projects of the Institute of crystallography of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow (1947), the Maritime station in Sochi (1948-1949, together with С. Х. Сатунцем), typical of prefabricated houses of high-strength plaster, for the southern regions of the USSR (1947).

Worked in the field of design. In 1937 worked to develop a series of lights for the streets of Moscow in 1937-1938 — projects aircraft painting for the expedition И. Д. Папанина to the North pole. In 1940, he executed a sketch of the painting on the plafond of the Bolshoi theatre in Moscow (with Л. А. Бруни). In 1950 he designed the design of the route Moscow — Simferopol: developed projects of road signs that were placed at the entrance to the city (together with В. А. Фаворским, Л. М. Кардашевым, Т. И. Милешиной). He created sketches of furniture for public buildings and mass production for private apartments.

Worked as a theatre designer. He performed sketches of costumes and scenery for the productions of "Over the cliff" В. Ф. Плетнева (1924), "Look out" on the play А. Н. Афиногенова (1926) 1-м workers theater, "Calvary" on the play Д. Чижевского in the Theater of the Revolution (1928). In 1926-1927 he worked on an architectural backdrop for the film С. М. Эйзенштейна "Old and new" ("General line"). Theatrical works were exhibited at the exhibition: "Moscow theatres October of the decade" in Moscow (1928).

he Taught in VKhUTEMAS — Vhuteine (1925-1927), Higher engineering-строительном College (1931-1932), Moscow architectural Institute (1936-1939); supervised graduate students at the Academy of architecture of the USSR (1934, 1939-1951). Member of-корреспондент Academy of architecture of the USSR (from 1941). The author of many articles on architecture. Prepared the book "On architecture" (published — M., 1960).

he carried out research activities. He directed the laboratory at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, in which, with the participation of technologists Г. Д. Андреевской and М. В. Классен-Неклюдовой developed "glass-fiber anisotropic material" (SVAM), which allowed us to reduce the weight of the structure in construction. In 1952 for this development was awarded the degree of doctor of technical Sciences.

Exhibits the works of the architect were organized in Moscow and Leningrad (spring 1941, most of the exhibits were lost during the blockade of Leningrad).
