From a peasant family. He attended evening and Sunday classes of drawing Society for the encouragement of arts in St. Petersburg (1884-1885). Studied in MUZHVZ (1889-1894) А. Е. Архипова, С. А. Коровина, К. А. Савицкого. In 1894 for the painting, "visiting friends," received a large silver medal and the title of the class artist. In 1894-1895 made the trip to Paris, attended a private Studio Ф. Кормона. He continued his studies at the Higher art school of painting, sculpture and architecture under the Imperial Academy of arts in St. Petersburg (1898-1901), workshop В. Е. Маковского. Graduated with the title artist for the painting "Receiving recruits".

he Lived in Yaroslavl (1895-1898), St. Petersburg (1898-1905), Sergiev Posad (since 1905), village Tunoshna Yaroslavl gubernia (1916). Painted genre paintings, landscapes, still lifes, portraits: "self Portrait" (1890), "Farewell" (1891), "At work" (1893), "Peasant girl", "the family table" (both — 1899), "Mother and son" (1901), "preview voice" (1902), "the Easy case" (1903); series Volga landscapes.

From 1887 — participant of exhibitions (student's, MUZHVZ). Participated in exhibitions of the Moscow Association of artists (1896), Moscow society of art lovers (1897), TPHV (1901-1903).A member and Exhibitor of the Yaroslavl art society (1910-20-е), the Yaroslavl branch of Union of artists of the USSR (1934).

he Taught painting and drawing in the schools of Yaroslavl (1895-1898), art-столярной training workshop (1905-1915), the women's gymnasium Tsvetkova (1915-1916) in Sergiev Posad, Yaroslavl municipal drawing classes (1916-1921).

a Memorial exhibition was held in Yaroslavl (1937).

Work is represented in several Museum collections, among them — of the State Tretyakov gallery, Yaroslavl art Museum, Ivanovo regional art Museum, State Museum of arts of Uzbekistan in Tashkent.
