he Studied at Art-ремонтных workshops at Central Stroganov-промышленном College (1913-1917), from 1917 — student of the Stroganov Academy, after its transformation — State free art workshops — VKhUTEMAS (1917-1924); studied with А. А. Кандинского, А. В. Лентулова, Д. П. Штеренберга, В. А. Фаворского.

he Lived in Moscow that summer months spent in the holiday village of "Soviet artist" near Kolomna. In the period of study was performed propaganda posters. In 1919-1922 created space-пространственные song, originally — abstract, then — "Kosmicheskie" (object "Station interplanetary communications", 1922). Since the mid 1920-х wrote thematic compositions, landscapes. Author of painting works: "Plant", "Radio" (both — 1924), and Thrasher (1926), "border Guards in Batumi" (1932), "report" (1933), "Winged agitator" (1937); graphic works: "the Arrival in the village, the American delegation", "delegation of German workers in the village" "Children in an agricultural commune", "Fountain scored" (all — 1927) and others.

In 1925 he performed sketches of costumes and scenery for productions of the play "Azovka" М. В. Шимкевича in the Theater of the Revolution. In 1924-1930 сотрудничал in magazines "Bezbozhnik u Stanka", "Change", the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda". In 1929 he worked under contract akhr on creating compositions intended for subsequent reproduction.

Participated in festive decoration of the red square (1926-1927), the Passionate area of the XIII anniversary of the October revolution (1930, together with К. А. Вяловым). In 1934 as part of a team А. А. Дейнеки developed the design factory-кухни at Fili. Performed monumental panels for pavilions VSHV (1937-1941).

he Worked as a poster artist; the author of the posters: "YCL — shock brigade of the five-year plan", "long live the Red Army — bulwark of the peace policy of the Soviet government and a faithful guardian of the Soviet borders" (both — 1931), "the Workers of factories, depots and workshops, on-ударному performing the repair, ensure the success of autumn-зимних transport" (1932) and others. Participated in the creation of a series of 30 плакатов under the leadership А. А. Дейнеки. In 1931, together with А. А. Дейнекой, Е. С. Зерновой, Е. К. Мельниковой, К. А. Козловой worked on the creation of a "Poster primer" for the lace-makers of Vologda region. During the great Patriotic war, worked in "Windows of TASS". Created a number of works on military topics ("Explosion of the bridge guerrillas", "storm the Elevator").

From 1918 — participant of exhibitions (5-я public exhibition of paintings in Moscow). A member of the group "Contractivity" (1924-1925), the Society of easel artists (1925-1931), Association "Izobrigada" (1931-1932), mossh (SSH — MOSH, 1932). Participated in exhibitions: 1-ая discussion exhibition associations active revolutionary art (1924), works of revolutionary and Soviet themes (1930), the anti-imperialist exhibition dedicated to International Red day "art of the third, decisive year of the five-year plan" (both — 1931), "Poster at the service of the five-year plan", "Caricature in the service of socialist construction" (both — 1932), "Artists of the transport" (1934), "Moscow artists — sponsored Gorky automobile plant" (1935) in Moscow; contemporary art exhibition in Simferopol (1927), 3-й exhibitions and 4-й exhibition of paintings by contemporary Russian artists in Feodosia (1927, 1928); 2-й and 3-й traveling exhibitions in cities of the RSFSR and republics of the USSR (1930, 1931); "Artists of the RSFSR for XV years" in Leningrad and Moscow (1932-1933); "XV years of the red army" in Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev, Kharkov (1933-1935) and others. The Exhibitor of several foreign exhibitions: Art-кустарной exhibition of the USSR in new-Йорке, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit (1929), Soviet graphics, posters, children's and art books and photos in Chicago, San-Франциско, new-Йорке (1932-1933), Madrid and Marseilles (1933), international exhibition of a poster in London (1934), Soviet graphic art, drawings, watercolors and lithographs in Sofia (1936).

he Taught painting at the Moscow Institute of fine arts.
