In the State Tretyakov gallery opened the exhibition "Nevsegda. 1968-1985"
Exhibition — part of the trilogy initiated by the project "the Thaw" (2017), will be held at the New Tretyakov gallery from 7 July to 11 October 2020
the Exhibition "Nevsegda. 1968-1985", which opened today, — the first major project carried out within the walls of the Tretyakov gallery after the abolition of the regime of self-isolation and partial withdrawal restrictions.
the exhibition includes more than 450 works of painting, sculpture and graphics from 34 Russian and foreign collections, as well as fragments of films, documentation of performances and archival materials. Exhibits, however, could be more: according to the Director of the state Tretyakov gallery, Zelfira Tregulova, a part of the objects intended to be exhibited in the framework of the project didn't reach the Museum from-за quarantine. However the timing of the exhibition has also changed: initially, its opening was scheduled for April of this year.
remained the concept of the exhibition, conceived as a second part of an ambitious three-part study of Soviet art of the postwar period. The first part of this research was the exhibition "the Thaw", held in London in 2017, and will complete the trilogy project dedicated to the art of perestroika. The Project "Nevsegda. 1968-1985" includes eight thematic sections: "Ritual and power", "Social-арт", "Religious mysticism", "Village", "Childhood", "Community", "History and stopped time", "the Disappearance", in which iconic works of official art relate to art of the underground.
Speaking to reporters on the eve of the opening of the exhibition g-жа Tregulova said, according to the citation, cited by TASS: "This ambitious exhibition, which is the first attempt to understand the art of this period, which we used to call the era of stagnation, of the Brezhnev era. This is an attempt to understand it, rejecting all stereotypes and biased point of view, trying to make sound simultaneously in dialogue and dispute very different point of view."
