Russian national Museum of music in conjunction with the Fund them. Korovin "let's save together" and gallery "vellum" opens the exhibition "the Theatre. Artists" at the Museum-усадьбе Chaliapin. The project is timed to the Year of theatre in Russia and 80-летию from the day in memory of K. A. Korovin. The exhibition runs through January 31, 2020.

the Exhibition presents the theatre as a form of creative synergy between music, visual arts and scenography, clearly manifested in the nineteenth century — "Golden age" of Russian culture. This time of momentous change in the performing arts, daring stage solutions — novelty images, fantasy wealth of decorative and coloristic solutions that span the beautiful craftsmanship. Scenography in the full sense is a separate branch of art.

Konstantin Korovin was one of the first who proposed a new approach to decorative design of the stage, made a psychological and semantic expressiveness in the artwork of theater. The scenery created by the artist were intended to play an active, not a static role on the stage, making the performance of the actors more expressive, to emphasize the drama of the plot. The artist himself recalled:

"Season in a Private Opera in Moscow, at the theatre Mamontova, opened with the Opera "the maid of Pskov" by Rimsky-Корсакова. I remember that I measured the growth of Chaliapin and made a door in the scenery on purpose less of its growth, so he entered the room tilted and straightened here, with the phrase:
— Well, good morning to you, Prince Yuri, the men of Pskov, a seat will allow. He seemed even huger than it was actually".

the exhibition presents the work of Konstantin Korovin and prominent Russian artists of his followers in the skill of stenography — V. A. Serov, M. A. Vrubel, A. N. Benoit, Y. P. Annenkov, F. F. Fedorovsky, V. P. Williams, T. G. Bruni, B. A. Uspensky, from the collections of the Russian national Museum of music, as well as from the collections of the famous Russian collectors and patrons of L. L. Agafonova and A. D. Mochalskogo.
