the works of Vladimir Mikhailovich Konashevich (1888-1963) is familiar to many from childhood. Illustrations of the wonderful wizard opened for several generations of young readers immortal literary masterpieces — Andersen's fairy tales and Pushkin children's books written by the classics of Soviet literature: Korney Chukovsky, Samuil Marshak, Yuri Olesha.

Easel artist spans more than forty years, but much less known to a wide audience, although Konashevich earlier emerged as the master of lyrical landscape, still life and portrait. At the beginning of the great Patriotic war, the artist moved to Leningrad from Pavlovsk, where he lost almost his entire archive. Managed to save only a tenth part of it. So precious and unique worksheets created in Pavlovsk and included in the exhibition, 150 works from the Russian Museum. Together with them presented works from the collection of the artist's family and other private collections.

One of the most remarkable masters of Russian art are now almost unknown, and the current exhibition — to return it to the audience.
