Russian Museum shows "Expressionism in Russian art"
"Expressionism in Russian art" — the next in a series of monographic exhibitions GRM ("Russian symbolism", "Impressionism in Russia", "Russian Neoclassicism"), dedicated to the major trends in Russian art of the early twentieth century. Expressionism in the art of Europe and North America in the first third of the last century covered not only all kinds of art, but also had a strong influence on literature, music, theatre and cinema, people's attitudes. In each of the countries have formed their own, national version of the international flow.
Paintings and drawings expressionism along with works of cubism, futurism and abstract art is regularly exhibited at exhibitions of Russian avant-garde in the country and abroad. For the first time in Russia and in the world is a multifaceted phenomenon becomes the subject of a separate monographic exhibition. It will reveal the national character of this movement in Russia and trends in its development at different stages and individual features of works of individual masters. Like its predecessors, the exhibition is based on the material of the richest collections of paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures from the Russian Museum.
the exhibition presents about 350 works 1900-х — mid 1930-х years, reflecting the spiritual quest of the Russian people of several pivotal eras in the country's history. Along with the works of N. Goncharova, M. Larionov, V. Kandinsky, M. Z. Chagall, P. N. Filonov, belonging to the heights of international expressionist art, shown for the first time while less well-known works of their colleagues from the art Association "Union of youth", "Donkey's tail", "Jack of diamonds", "Society of easel", "Circle", etc.: B. D. Grigoriev, M. V. Le-Дантю, O. V. Rozanova, I. S. Shkolnik, V. N. Chekriguina, Kozlinsky, V. I., I. L. Lizak, V. M. Ermolaeva, Y. P. Shchukin, Yu. I. Pimenov, V. I. Shukhaev, etc.
