Today more than ever it is clear that Kuzma Petrov-Водкин — genius of the twentieth century and the extent of its influence on the culture of his era is comparable to the value of such individuals in the art as Kazimir Malevich, Pavel Filonov, Wassily Kandinsky. In the halls of the Benois wing of the landmark show of the artist's work covering all periods of his artistic biography, the works of both known and forgotten in the collections of various museums and private collections. For the first time next to the works of the permanent exhibitions of the Russian Museum and the Tretyakov gallery will present the sketches and sketches for them to see firsthand the work process of the artist.

the exhibition includes about 250 paintings and drawings from the collections of the state Russian Museum, state Tretyakov gallery, the Saratov art Museum im. A. N. Radishchev Art Museum in Khvalynsk, the St. Petersburg theatre Museum, the Museum of theatrical arts. A. A. Bakhrushin in Moscow, the State Hermitage Museum, regional art museums and private collections of St. Petersburg and Moscow.

Adorns the exhibition a series of masterpieces from different collections, including "bathing the red horse", "virgin of Tenderness of evil hearts", "Petrograd Madonna", "death of a Commissar", "Alarm" and other.
