the First in the Tretyakov gallery, the personal exhibition of the Russian artist Nicholas Bagratovich Nikoghosyan is dedicated to 100-летию author born December 2, 1918. Major display of his works is the master as a sculptor but also a painter, little known to the General public. The exhibition displays more than 120 works, including sculpture works of monographic collection of the Tretyakov gallery, as well as 60 paintings, 10 drawings and 50 sculptures from the Gallery of Niko. Some of them were specially brought from Yerevan collection of the author. Curator — N. L. Rosenwasser.

Art N. B. Nikoghosyan belongs to two cultures — Armenian and Russian. For many years he lives and works in Moscow, keeping in constant communication with Armenia. The Works Of N. B. Nikoghosyan clearly reflect the intellectual, spiritual quest and inner beauty of the two peoples. He blends in his work the traditions of classical European and Armenian art. Being a bright representative of the Moscow sculptural school, N. B. Nikoghosyan has consistently advocated the principles of its plastic system. He created monuments, portraits, songs have rightly become classics of twentieth century art.

the Most famous work Nikoghosyan — monumental sculptural images included in the architectural ensemble on the facade of high-rise building on Kudrinskaya square in Moscow (1948-1954); the sculptural decoration of the Palace of science and culture in Warsaw (1952-1955); memorial monument to fallen soldiers in his native village Nalbandian (1978); expressive and innovative monuments to M. Nalbandyan (1965), E. Charents (1985) in Yerevan and the A. Isahakian in Gyumri (1975), and numerous tombstones and commemorative memorial plaque.

On the anniversary the exhibition covering 75 years of the artist's career, presents the most important easel works. The sculpture "Worker of the Ararat valley" and "Russian land" majestic images created by N. B. Nikoghosyan, like ancient stone sculptures. They organically combined the monumental static and hidden internal stress. The massiveness of the forms in the proportionality of parts helps to create the image of man, endowed with the inner integrity.

Plastic's potential seem limitless. The artist is fluent in the techniques of working with various materials, primarily stone, which he refers to folk traditions, the mysteries of the ancient Armenian carvers and stonemasons.

Most clearly the individuality of the sculptor was manifested in the portrait genre. For seven decades the artist has created a truly unique gallery of images of his contemporaries, from famous scientists and artists to ordinary workers. "Feeling individual" is a distinctive feature of creativity of N. B. Nikoghosyan. Easel portraits of the master is distinguished by a large plastic expressiveness, careful selection of resources, the restraint and conciseness of plastics in the total scale and philosophic content of the artistic image. The most significant of them — are the portraits of the academicians I. D. Zelinsky, P. L. Kapitsa, bright representatives of Armenian culture — poets, writers, theatre Directors, actors, composers: A. S. Isahakian, L. Kalantar, S. B. Kaputikian, M. Nalbandyan, E. R. Simonov, D. G. Janibekyan, A. I. Khachaturian; composers and musicians D. Shostakovich, G. V. Sviridov, E. F. Gnesiny, A. N. Gribova, S. A. Martinsons, sculptors and artists S. D. Merkurov, G. I. Kapinova, M. S. Saryan, P. N. Krylov. The wizard made 70 years ago, and now amaze us with innovative solutions and a fresh perspective. Many of the portraits began in Russia and Armenia a classic of twentieth-century art.
