The exhibition "Crown of earthly colors" will show more than 60 paintings of the thirteen Russian museums and private collections

"New Jerusalem" will bring Kustodiev works from museums in St.-Петербурга, Kazan, Voronezh, Kostroma, Vladimir, Ivanovo, Krasnodar, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, Cheboksary and Moscow. Part of the works were provided by private collectors, recommended by the auction house Sotheby's.

the Exhibition is timed to 140-летию since the birth of the artist.

According to the author of the project idea, Deputy General Director of the Museum "New Jerusalem" Daria Milovanovi, emotionally, the exhibition aims to convey the atmosphere of the wide Russian holiday — favorite Kustodiev theme.

the Opening will be held during the pancake week, in the days of the traditional folk of wires of the Russian winter. The theme of the carnival is dedicated to the iconic painting "Shrovetide" (1916, State Russian Museum), it is in separate pieces with the characters Shrovetide festivities — for example, "Merchants bagels" (1919, private collection), and theatrical sketches, transferred to the stage.

Merchant theme embodied in the classic portrait "Merchant" (1918, Science-исследовательский Museum of the Russian Academy of arts), in watercolors and still-life painting "Apple and hundred-ruble note" (1916, the state Museum "Peterhof"), the symbolic meaning of which was lost from the-за chargeability to his decorative still lifes of the master.

the curators of the project were the critic, a well-known expert on Russian drawing XIX–XX centuries Olga Glebova and expert on exhibition activities Eleanor zacharievskaya.

the exhibition presents visual material that clearly demonstrates the evolution of the wizard in one of the threads — from rare sketches for diploma painting "Market in the country" (the picture is not preserved) to the "carnival" (collection of the State Russian Museum) and "the Fair in Kineshma" (1917, private collection). From small, quite traditional portraits of family members and classmates — to a large-scale portraits with individually kustodievskie emotionality, specificity, flavor.
