The Hessian Princess in Russia's history

19 December 2017 in Frankfurt-на-Майне, the Museum of the Icon, will open the exhibition "the Hessian Princess in Russian history" — joint large-scale Russian-германский exhibition project.

the Exhibition is organized by the Foundation "Elisabeth-Сергиевское educational society" (ESPO), with the support of the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation, with the participation of major museums and archives of Russia, private collections in Russia and Germany, the National Museum of Azerbaijan.

the Exhibition focuses on the lives of four princesses of Hesse-Дармштадтского Ducal House, left a glorious trace in Russian history, crowned stroitelni state of Affairs of the charity and education — Grand Duchess Natalia Alexeyevna (wife of crown Prince Paul Petrovich, future Emperor Paul I), Empress Maria Alexandrovna (wife of Emperor Alexander II), Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna (wife of Emperor Nicholas II) and Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna (wife of Grand Duke Sergius Alexandrovich). Two of them — Empress Alexandra and Grand Duchess Elizabeth Fyodorovna, canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church canonized.

the exhibition presents a unique collection of portraits, documents and personal belongings of four princesses from the collection of the State Hermitage, State Historical Museum, State Tretyakov gallery, State Russian Museum, Tsarskoe Selo Museum-reserve, Pavlovsk Museum-reserve, Peterhof Museum-reserve, The main archive of the Russian Federation and many others. The exhibition organizers have done a great research, the results of which for the first time the exhibition includes objects and documents that give the viewer the opportunity at the-своему depth look at the controversial facts of history. For the first time at the exhibits from the Russian Museum presents the objects from the collection of the Hessian of the House. Many of the items of this vast collection, among which personal belongings, portraits of the heroes of the exhibition and members of their families, the Russian researchers and the audience will see for the first time.

Some of these objects preserved in St. Olga's Church. The exhibition will feature unique exhibits from the Fund of Russian Culture — letters of the Royal Family from prison in Tobolsk, the items identified A. N. The Sokolov investigation of the murder of Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna, Emperor Nicholas II, his family and servants from the Museum of Russian history, Jordanville (USA).

the most Important element of the exhibition is the gallery of formal portraits of the Hessian Princesses and their Royal spouses — of the Great Princes, Emperors, which will be paintings and graphic works of famous artists such as P. E. and Falcone, V. A. Serov, F. A. von Kaulbach, M. Zichy, Mikhail Nesterov, E. K. Lipgart, I. N. Kramskoy, T. Neff. The closing part of the gallery will be portraits of Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna.

the connecting link of the exhibition will bea large family tree, compiled by specialists of the Fund of ESPO, which reflects ancestral ties of the dynasty of Rurik Brabancon which have arisen still in XII — XIII centuries.

part of the exhibition project "Hessian Princess in Russia's history" will be a scientific conference, which will begin its work on 19 December at 10:00 in the knights Hall of the Museum of Icons. The conference will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation, Fund "Elisabeth-Сергиевское educational society", a famous Russian and German historians and archivists, but also Museum Directors — exhibitors and honorable figures of culture of the Russian Federation. the Exhibition, which attracted more than 300 exhibits of the largest collections of Russia and Germany, will allow the scientific community of Russia and Germany to open the new data of the history of Russian-германских dynastic ties and will contribute to the preservation of the memory of the Hessian princesses.
