the Exhibition occupies the entire Office wing of the Museum-усадьбы "Arkhangelsk". In eight halls of the second floor you can see 95 antique pieces of embroidery and about 140 pictures-схем of the XIX century from the Museum collection and from the personal collections of Oksana Grigorieva and Konstantin Juraskova. In a separate hall are shown embroidery work done in our days by the collector Oksana Grigorieva on old samples and drawings presented at the exhibition.

In the exhibition — items of furniture from the historic collection of the Arkhangelskoye estate, a collection of pipes with beaded shank metre length wallets, handbags, boxes, coasters and other items decorated with thousands of colored stitches and beads.

In the nineteenth century enthusiasm for embroidery was truly massive. Europe and Russia swept the fashion that the satires were called crazy. Firmly fixed in the everyday life of the Russian nobility, embroidery with silk, wool and beads has gained the most popularity in the age of Pushkin. Since then, embroidery was adorned with furniture and numerous items of everyday life in urban homes and country estates of the Russian nobility.

In Europe, figures-схемы embroidery called Berlin Woolwork Рatterns, i.e. "samples for embroidery in Berlin wool". Published mainly in Berlin and Vienna schemes are used for embroidery with wool on canvas, for knitting or crochet, and embroidery with silk or beads.

the exhibition presents a number of unique schemes. One of them — "macaw Parrot, lovebird Terrier and the Spaniel" (1834-1862). The figure shows the favorite dog of Queen Victoria — skayterer Islay, cavalier-кинг-чарльз-спаниель, Tilko, red macaw and two parrots lovebird. The pattern repeats the painting by sir Edwin Landseer (1802-1873), written for Queen Victoria in 1839, this picture was taken a copy for "Berlin embroidery" different from the original in some details.

Another remarkable exhibit — embroidery floral garlands, over a metre long, which was used to create the masterpiece of Russian decorative-прикладного art in the first half of the XIX century. — sofa with beaded trim from a famous estate tarnovskys Kachanivka in Chernihiv province.

will Not leave indifferent and unique "Bouquet of flowers" from the collection of the princes Golitsyn, arrived in the Museum-усадьбу "Arkhangelsk" from the nearby manor of Nikolskoye-Урюпино.

In a separate hall are shown three embroidered beaded wall mural "Swiss landscape, Hunters in the tavern" and "the Family of a smuggler." On the creation of each work of embroiderers in the nineteenth century could work in a half — two years.

Specially for the exhibitionprepared for printing the first in Russia the album is dedicated to ancient drawings embroidery; released a series of collectible books — folder (12 sheets each) with reprint copies samples-схем XIX; prepared a variety of colorful Souvenirs: postcards, plates, magnets, mugs with pictures of the most memorable exhibits.

the Exhibition will be interesting not only to admirers of the art of embroidery, but to all who are fascinated by the history of Russian estate and related traditions from home handicraft.
