Ilya Glazunov in Veliky Novgorod
The artist shows paintings of the famous series "History of Russia", "Kulikovo Field", illustrations for the works of classical Russian literature and works on religious subjects
The exhibition of people's artist of the USSR academician Ilya Glazunov presents 40 paintings and drawings on historical and religious themes. Among them are "Russian Icarus," "Ivan the terrible", "the Legend of Tsarevich Dmitry," "Prince Oleg and Igor", "Russian beauty", "the Invasion. Childhood Andrei Rublev", "Rus", "Kizhi", "Rainbow. The Russian land", "Novgorod village Rowing. The lake is Great" and "Lord Novgorod the Great".
a Significant part of the exhibition is devoted to book graphics — illustrations to works of this beloved writer author Fyodor Dostoevsky. Glazunov brought the drawings to the "Humiliated and insulted", "Idiot", "Brothers Karamazov", "Crime and punishment".
Ilya Glazunov is among the most expensive living Russian artists. Auction record for his work was installed in 2007: a two-meter "view of the Kremlin and Red square" was sold at Christie's for $60 000.
