Lev Feliksovich Lagorio (1826-1905) — bright and original artist in the history of Russian art of the XIX century. The boy's fate have identified the acquaintance with the works of his countryman, another Feodosia artist — is still young, but already famous Ivan Aivazovsky, in whose Studio Lagorio worked in 1839-1840. At the same time, work on nature observation of nature allowed the artist to develop his own style.

Lagorio became famous through the landscape. The range of subjects was wide enough —, mountainous, forest landscapes, battle scenes, but special attention is always paid to the Marina. Sea Lagorio saw on-своему. He rarely wrote of the storm, pathetic-взволнованные images of the sea it attracted little. Favorite motifs were landscapes of the chamber of coasts with views of the sea and sky, warm and welcoming coves with standing on the RAID ships, houses, lost in the haze at the foot of the mountains.

the exhibition presents all periods of creativity of Lev Lagorio. The earliest, executed in the period of study at the Academy, is a night landscape with the moon and sailing boats near the shore. It fully reflected the skills learned in the workshop of the famous teacher and artist-романтика M. N. Vorobyov. Landscape filled with the impressions of the journey across the Gulf of Finland in 1846 and different emotion connected with field observations. In the future, to replace the romance will come fine poetry, especially attractive at night types the moonlight of St. Petersburg.

In the last years of life L. F. Lagorio worked in graphics, became a member of the Society of Russian watercolors. His watercolors are strict in composition but full of life and movement, have a high level of skill and care in detail. The leaves attract the subtle colors and lightness.
