Russian avant-garde of the regions will show at the Jewish Museum
Curator Andrei Sarabianov will exhibit the works of Russian avant-garde from the collections of regional museums in 17 cities. Including works by little-known and virtually unknown artists, the most valuable period in Russian art
Part II — this is because continues the exhibition, which was held in the spring of 2016. Chronology of the second part of the exhibition covers the period from 1917 until the early 1930-х. At this time, continues the artistic evolution of those styles that originated in 1910-е years (to some extent, Cubo-futurism, primitivism), and, simultaneously, the formation of new directions, such as pointlessness and constructivism. On the avant-garde scene there is a generation of young artists who studied in VKhUTEMAS from the most famous masters of the avant-garde, mainly from the representatives of "Jack of diamonds".
Now their pupils form the face of the new art. They are all working within the figurative art, but develop new avant-garde — expressionism, surrealism. At the same time there are schools recognized masters of non-objective avant-garde: Kazimir Malevich school at Vitebsk and the school of Mikhail Matiushin in Petrograd — Leningrad. Alexander Rodchenko also gathers young representatives of irrelevance and emerging constructivism.
For the second part of the exhibition, selected more than 100 works by well-known artists-авангардистов — Vasily Kandinsky, El Lissitzky, Mikhail Matyushin, Lyubov Popova, Alexander Rodchenko, Pavel Filonov, and little-known authors — Michael Minkova, James pain, Roman Semashkevich, Ludmila Schmidt-Рыжовой, Valentine Yustitskogo and others. The basis of the exhibition went to the materials research work published in the form of the fundamental three-volume "Encyclopedia of Russian avant-garde".
Works in the exhibition come from museumsArkhangelsk, Astrakhan, Vyatka, Ekaterinburg, Ivanovo, Kostroma, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Nizhny Tagil, Omsk, Samara, Saratov, Smolensk, Tula, Cheboksary, Yaroslavl, Vologda.
