the reign of Elizabeth (1741-1761) has so far received mixed reviews among historians of Russian art. But this era associated with true flowering of Russian art and architecture, the further development of collecting, laid by the father of the Empress, Peter the Great. The exhibition, which opens in the framework of the project "Theatre of Russian history. House of Romanov: facts, legends and myths. The Saga of the dynasty", collected more than 150 works of different artists who worked in the era of the glorious reign of Elizabeth.

George Christofi Groote (1716-1749) is considered one of the most prominent members of "Rossica" (so-called creativity of foreign artists who worked in Russia in the XVIII century). Groot actually became the founder of the Russian school portrait of a New time. He has had a significant impact on the work of leading Russian artists of the XVIII century — A. P. Antropov, Levitsky, F. Rokotov. In 2016 it is noted 300-летие since the birth of G. H. Groot.

the exhibition presents 40 paintings of local and foreign artists, over 50 graphic works and some 60 decorative-прикладного art — exhibits, each of which was a clear indication of the cultural life of Russia 1740 – 1760 start-х G.

Works for the exhibition were provided by the State Hermitage Museum, State Tretyakov gallery, State historical Museum, State historical-культурный Museum-заповедник "the Moscow Kremlin" St-Петербургский state Museum of theatrical and musical art, the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the State Museum of history St.-Петербурга, Peterhof Museum-reserve, Pavlovsk Museum-reserve, Peterhof Museum-reserve "Tsarskoye Selo", GMZ "Gatchina", State Museum of fine arts of the Republic of Tatarstan, Nizhny Novgorod state art Museum, Orel Museum of fine arts, Tallinn city Museum, Art Museum of Estonia, Narva Museum, and private collectors.
