Piranesi in Pushkin
Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778) — engraver, architect, draftsman, Midwest, decorator and scholar — had a huge influence on subsequent generations of artists, including Russian. At the exhibition you can see over hundreds of etchings, prints and drawings by the great Italian masters, his predecessors and followers, as well as casts, medals, coins. The project involved Scientific-исследовательский Museum of ARTS, the Cini Foundation (Venice), MOIRE them. Shchusev Museum of history Moscow architectural school at the Moscow architectural Institute, RGALI, international architectural charity Foundation in the name of Iakov Chernikhov, the Central Institute of graphics (the Roman Calcografia). From the latter Institute in Russia was first brought authentic engraving by Piranesi of the Board. All the exhibition includes about 400 works.
the Exhibition goes far beyond the boundaries of creativity Piranesi only. The viewer can learn how the legacy of Italian masters proved themselves in Russia. The court of Catherine II, architects Giacomo Quarenghi, Vincenzo Brenna, Charles Cameron; masters of the Russian avant garde, Konstantin Melnikov, Ivan Leonidov, Yakov Chernikhov, and even contemporary artist Valery Koshlyakov, whose solo exhibition is now at the Museum of Russian impressionism, — all have been influenced by Piranesi.
