The project "From Kandinsky to Pollock" will present more than one hundred works from the collections of Solomon and Peggy Guggenheim. The exhibition is held under the auspices of the Foundation Palazzo Strozzi and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in new-Йорке.
the Exhibition traces the development of the latest trends in art of the first half of the twentieth century on both sides of the Atlantic ocean on the example of paintings, sculpture, prints and photographs by such masters as Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, man ray, Pablo Picasso, artists-информалистов — Alberto Burri, Jean Dubuffet, Emilio Vedova, Lucio Fontana, as well as important representatives of American post-war art 1950-60-х — Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, Alexander Calder, Roy Lichtenstein and CY Twombly.
the American philanthropist and art collector Solomon R. Guggenheim, the founder of the Museum of modern art in new-Йорке, was one of the main collectors of abstract art in the first half of the twentieth century. His niece Peggy Guggenheim, also has become a reputable collector, in 1949, he moved to live in Italy (in Venice), where he founded the Museum of modern art. However, one of the first steps of the Peggy Guggenheim collection in Italy was holding a temporary exhibition of works from his collection in the Florentine Palazzo Strozzi. So the choice of the venue of the exhibition "From Kandinsky to Pollock" is not accidental.
