Your story "Fighting pencil" began in December 1939 — during the Soviet-финской war. Leningrad artists decided to support the morale of our soldiers. The name "Pencil" appeared on the same wall newspaper of the graphic section of the Union of artists. Remembered the poetry of Mayakovsky: "I want to bayonet equated pen". The pencil drew a rifle — so the logo and the name "Fighting pencil".

After a short pause artists "Fighting pencil" met again in the beginning of the great Patriotic war. All blockade, despite the difficult conditions, the artists continued to produce military posters that were not only the city but also on the front line.
