In his art Yakulov sought to address the ambitious goal — to join the artistic traditions of East and West. Armenian by origin, he was born and raised in Tbilisi, as a painter was formed in Moscow, was closely associated with the artistic circles of Paris, and in recent years spent mainly in Yerevan. Yakulov was always the soul of any company, and began teaching, was used not only respect, but also a deep love of the disciples. Evidence of this was the funeral of the artist. In the last journey accompanied him in three cities: the train was walking to Moscow from Yerevan with a stopover in Tbilisi. A farewell ceremony in Moscow was conceived and executed as a theatrical performance.
