the exhibition covers 1850-70-е years and focuses on an important period, not only in photography but also in the history of English art — period, known as the "Victorian era". Its importance is defined as the growing interest of photographers to the art and desire the photograph to enter the Pantheon of fine arts. the exhibition presents photographic works by famous authors, included in the pre-Raphaelite circle, among them Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Julia Margaret Cameron, Henry Peach Robinson, Lewis Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson).
In a number of other artists of the Victorian era, which left a significant mark in the history of photography, — Roger Fenton, the head of the London photographic society and the first official war photographer, lady Clementine Hawarden — one of the first women-фотографов, received the first ever photos of the award for best Amateur collection.
