The State Russian Museum opens the exhibition " Nicholas Roerich . 1874-1947 ", dedicated to the 140th anniversary - one of the great masters of Russian painting end XIX - first half of the twentieth century , writer, thinker , archaeologist and public figure, initiator of the International Covenant for the Protection of Cultural Property humanity (" Roerich Pact »).

Russian Museum has the largest collection of the picturesque heritage of Nicholas Roerich , there are about 430 works, which are Russian and foreign stages of his career. The exposition consists of about 300 paintings and drawings from the collection of the Russian Museum , the Tretyakov Gallery , the State Museum " Peterhof" and the Research Museum of Arts ( Museum Apartment Brodsky ) , starting with the work relating to the early stage of Roerich's work associated with the training at the Imperial Academy of Arts and participation in the activities of the association "World of Art ».

highlight of the exhibition is to show "Warriors frieze ", which includes rarely exhibited earlier because of the large size painting " Sadko" . Widely and fully presents works of Nicholas Roerich during his stay abroad after leaving Russia in 1918 - work started in India in the second half of the 1930s - 1940s .
