Yesterday Russian Museum opened an exhibition "Beauty without glamor", dedicated to the genre of nude photography in Russian XX - XXI centuries. The exhibition includes 80 photographs showing the evolution of the genre.
Nude ( fr . Nu - naked) - a genre of art depicting the naked human body. The first experiments on the development of the genre of time close to the invention of daguerreotype (1839). Already in the 1840s in Paris and London shows were "daguerreotype images of nudes».
Virtually all of the major genres of photography at the stage of its development were based on the fundamentals of classical art. Genre nude was no exception.
earliest photographs presented in this exhibition, created by artist A. P. Eberling in 1900. Poses nudes in these photos repeat poses models of its paintings. Photographers Svishtov Paola , D. Zimin, B. Smirnov Penson , who worked in the 1920s and 30s, achieved expressive images, using formative lighting possibilities, which gave them a model of excellence and clarity of outline, like sculptured statues. Eremin , A. Aleksandrov Greenberg , by contrast, worked in the pictorial manner, using a soft-focus optics, sought picturesque effect, similar to the works of the Impressionists.
Unfortunately, history nude in Soviet Russia was short-lived. In the past four years 1925-1928 exhibition "Art of Movement", which demonstrated including photographs of nudes, have become the latest public display of experiments. Already in 1929 there were articles, branding photographers pictorialists and recognizing the work in the genre of nude alien to modern times. Because of censorship for decades the Soviet few photographers who turned to the subject of nudity, semi-underground work. Visitors can also see a few papers relating to the 1940 50 th year.
since the 1960s - the period of thaw - the situation began to change. Showing at official exhibitions and the publication of photos of nudes were still virtually impossible, but photographers, though with no hope of a public presentation, have increasingly turned to the genre of the nude. For 1960-80-ies have creative heyday such photographers as Mr. Prikhodko, Valentin V. Samarin , C. Leontiev , Lazarev , S. Knyazev, Bruj .
Only in 1990, with the change of the political system, there was a return to the genre for legal art scene. 1990s - 2000s, the works presented A. Chezhina , Sergey S. Borisov , G. Maiofis and many others.
continued development of the genre in different directions. This is a classic and following the presentation of the body (S. Namin, V. Grigoriev, Bashun, A. Poletaeva, A. Kryvtsov) and the use of aesthetics glamorous magazines (D. Don, Ivan Warhammer). And the photographers are turning to the old, manual techniques (Group of Artists "Easel Photo XXI», A. Maryashin) and to the modern understanding fotoavangarda, replacing it with techniques of modern digital technologies with graphical editors ( K.Khudyakov , D. Zaitsev, Garev), which allows authors to literally create a new reality. This inclusion of a naked female body in the social and artistic context that allows you to move away from the almost routine perception of nude photography in a thrilling ideal object, return the plastic body of personality, character, will ( Mukhin , A. Esipovich , Y. Ivo D. Kuklin).
